Liquid Compost Extract
Compost Extract – Living Microbes for Thriving Soil
Our Compost Extract is a living liquid amendment teeming with beneficial microorganisms extracted from our high-quality, biologically active compost. This solution makes it easy to apply the soil food web directly to your land—allowing you to cover a greater area than solid compost with less material and labor.
Perfect for:
• Seed treatments – jumpstart early root-microbe interactions
• Root dips – give transplants a microbial edge
• Soil drenches – improve soil structure and nutrient cycling
• Foliar sprays – introduce microbes to leaf surfaces and improve resilience
This is not compost tea. Our extract is a non-brewed, gentle method of transferring microbes without altering their balance or risking anaerobic growth.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between Compost Extract and Compost Tea?
Compost Extract is not brewed or aerated like compost tea. It’s made by gently rinsing beneficial microorganisms from compost into water, without adding food sources that could unbalance microbial populations. This makes it a more stable, natural representation of the soil food web and reduces the risk of growing unwanted bacteria.
How should I apply Compost Extract?
You can apply it as a soil drench, foliar spray, root dip for transplants, or even as a seed treatment. It works well with watering cans, sprayers, or irrigation systems. Gently mix before use to keep microbes suspended, and apply evenly for best results.
Do I need special equipment?
No special equipment is required! Any clean container, watering can, backpack sprayer, or tank will do—as long as it hasn’t held chemicals or detergents. For foliar applications, a sprayer with a fine nozzle helps ensure even coverage.
How long does it last?
We recommend using Compost Extract within 24–48 hours for maximum biological activity. After that, microbial populations may decline, especially if oxygen levels drop or it’s stored improperly.
How should I store it if I can’t apply right away?
Keep it in a cool, shaded area. Avoid freezing, overheating, or leaving it sealed for long periods. It’s best to crack open the lid or vent the container to allow air in after transport.
Can you help me figure out how much I need?
Absolutely! Reach out to us with the size of the area you’re treating and your goals—we’ll help you estimate the right volume for your situation.
