My journey into growing food began in 2007, sparked by a curiosity that quickly grew into a deep passion. As I explored the connection between food quality and its effects on our bodies and minds, I realized that the key to growing the highest quality food always pointed back to one thing: the soil. I came to understand that the health of our food, the animals we raise, and our own bodies are all deeply interconnected with the state of the soil beneath our feet.
But what exactly makes soil, soil? Why are some soils highly productive, while others struggle to produce anything more than weeds? How do forests grow massive amounts of biomass year after year, with zero external inputs, while we—despite our technological advances and deep understanding of the world—seem to face significant challenges in growing enough high-quality food without relying on costly external inputs?
These questions fueled my desire for understanding and ultimately led me to study Dr. Elaine Ingham’s Soil Food Web methods. I underwent training to become a Soil Food Web Consultant and established an accredited lab, committed to sharing these insights and solutions with my community.
